Bob accepted our offer and we got our Scotty! Our new RV has many of the things we loved about our pop-up camper with many added luxuries. The transition from pop-up camper to RV came with a price. We went from a small compact package that could go anywhere to a larger package that could go almost anywhere. Fortunately, we have plenty of room to stow our back packing gear and we can tow our Jeep, Gidget, as well. This gives us versatility and comfort.
Specs on Scotty:
- 1996 Scotty Serro Hilander – C Class RV with 60K miles
- 4×4 Cummins Dodge 3500 Diesel Chassis (yep – it’s a 4×4 RV from the factory)
- 24 Feet Long
- 35 Gallons Fresh/25 Grey/25 Black (to be confirmed)
- 30 Gallons Propane
- 140 Watts Solar (to be upgraded to 400 shortly)
- Dual Deep Cycle House Batteries (Total of 4 Batteries with Dodge)
- Queen Size Bed (or slighty bigger) Over the Cab
- Full Shower and Toilet
- Kitchen with Frig, Dual Sink, Convection Oven and Gas Stove
- Couch that folds out to Double Size Bed (we can have overnight guests!)
The decision to buy an older RV was based on the good price, and being exactly what we wanted in an RV, with the exception of grandmas cottage inside and the killer teal and pink exterior stripes. With the money we saved on buying this older RV we decided that we could afford to put a little money into updating the interior and some of the exterior. We will be sure to share that with you! Stay tuned for Design on a Dime – RV Edition.
Can you shoot me an email about this rv. Just had one land in my lap. But it comes with a $20,000 price tag and doesnt have bed on lower level. Instead it comes with rear kitchen. Easy enough to renovate, but a 23 year old dodge technology has me hesitant. How long did you keep yours? Any major flaws? Wishlist items you wished it had or didnt have? How does it fare o gas mileage?
Please shoot me an email when get this at adam@aowanders.com or you can contact me thru my site aowanders.com.
Ive been looking hi n low for the perfect rig to drive around the world. From buses to vans. Even kitting out my Tacoma. Small rvs. Anything and everything. Would prefer something more modern and more popular world wide, but… what you think of yours.
