We decided to buy an older RV to save money, but with that, we also got an RV with an outdated looking interior and exterior. We saved a lot of money by buying an older RV, so we decided that we could afford to put some money into renovating it and updating the appearance. We didn’t want it to feel like we were living at our grandma’s house. We decided to change it drastically. We could have probably made minor tweaks and it would have looked better but we wanted it to feel new.
Thus we did the following:
- Removed the light blue carpet and replaced it with vinyl planking (Lowe’s)
- Removed the gold cabinetry pulls and replaced them with brass hardware (Lowe’s)
- Painted the existing hinges to match the new pulls (Rustoleum Rubbed Bronze)
- Painted all of the cabinets and walls (BEHR Paint from Home Depot)
- Removed two bulky upholstered chairs and small dinette
- Installed a computer desk with chairs and tall chest of drawers (Ikea Desk & Ikea Cabinet)
- Reupholstered the couch (Joann’s Fabric)
- Removed the upholstered valances and replaced them with
wooden ones stained to match the floors (Home Depot) - Removed the old slate blue curtains and replaced them with new ones (Joann’s Fabric – Luxe Plaid Pewter Stone)
Here are some pics of the renovation process:
We did some other things to decorate:
- Painted the refrigerator door with chalk paint
- Added a full length mirror to the bathroom door (Ikea Mirror)
- Put up birch tree wallpaper (Amazon Wallpaper)
- Added a Silver Faux Deer Head Wall Mount (TJ Maxx)
- Added a Long Carpet (Ikea Marslev Rug)
- Got a colorful throw blanket and pillows (Amazon Deer Pillow)
We started by picking out some things that inspired our decorating. We then choose the colors that we wanted to use. It all came together perfectly.
