Picking up our Camper

FourWheel Camper in the parking lot of Walmart - Pano

After going to two different camper dealers in Southern California and looking at several campers online we decided that we would buy the camper at Rocky Mountain FourWheel(RMFW) in Arvada, Colorado. We would take a long weekend and drive out with our truck and pick it up and make some detours on the way home.

Arvada is a little city just outside of Denver, which takes about 15 hours to drive there non-stop. We decided we would drive through the night to get there in time to have our buddy from RMFW to install our camper on our truck before we had to go out of town.

We left around 7pm on a Wednesday. We packed the things we thought we would need for the trip like clothes, some snacks, bedding for the camper and some other basic kitchen necessities like a pan, pot, some silverware, dish towel and other miscellaneous items. We drove through the night and needed a little rest so we napped for a few hours at a lovely rest stop just outside of Canyonlands National Park in Utah. We wish we could have stayed in this area longer and explored but we needed to get to Arvada to get our camper. We have made a promise to go back when we have more time.

We arrived at RMFW on Thursday afternoon. We were exhausted from the long drive but got a second wind once we saw our camper. It was everything we wanted and now it was ours. We dropped off our truck and went to get a bite while the camper was installed. We walked to a Red Robin that was about a two-mile walk in the blazing sun and heat, for a celebratory beer and cheers! We could hardly wait to start our adventures and now we could with our camper.

Once the camper was installed, Chris, RMFW dealer, showed us everything we needed to know about the camper. He is so knowledgeable about the campers and has one himself so he had plenty of suggestions on what we could do and what has worked best for him. See some videos below:

We tried to absorb most of what we were told, but there is so much to learn. Chris offered to be of help anytime. He recommended reaching out to him with a phone call for any questions we had. Although we had bought our camper and were driving away with it, he said he enjoys hearing from his customers and helping them in any way he can.

Through talking with Chris, we found that we had some things in common with him. He also enjoys the outdoors and has a camper he uses with his family. He makes a living doing what he loves and also dreams of living a life more off grid. We discussed what’s important in life, enjoying it and being with the people you love. We even got tips on where to head to next and going to Telluride was top on his list so we decided we would head that direction next.
